Lewisham Choral Society is always keen to welcome new singers. If you are thinking of joining us, our rehearsals are fun, friendly and enjoyable, so provide a great opportunity to find out whether we are the right choir for you.
Our over 100 current members have a wide variety of choral experience, ranging from relative newcomers to very experienced singers. However, we extend the same welcome to everyone who wants to sing with us, regardless of experience.
We don’t hold auditions, so the best way to find out whether LCS is right for you is to come along to one of our rehearsals.
We rehearse on Monday evenings, between 8 and 10 p.m., with short breaks for Christmas and Easter and a longer break over the summer months of July and August.   Rehearsals for the 2008/09 season are due to resume on Monday 1st September for the new term’s music, but newcomers are welcome to come along on any Monday evening.
Our rehearsals are held at Kilmorie School, Kilmorie Road, Forest Hill, London SE23 2SP. The school is near Forest Hill Station, and is on bus routes 75 and 185. Parking is available in the school car park and in nearby streets.

The school has good disabled access, including dedicated disabled parking and step-free access to the rehearsal area.
If you do decide to come along to one of our rehearsals, you will find us in the main school hall, which will be to your right as you come into the building.
When you arrive, please make yourself known to one of the LCS committee members. All of the committee members wear name badges, so should be easy to spot. They will help you to get the music you need, will introduce you to other singers in your voice part and will answer any questions that you might have.
We are happy for all new singers to try us out for free, so there is no need to purchase your own music before coming to our rehearsals, or to pay any membership fees for your first few weeks with us.
If you do decide to join us, our membership fees are currently £100 per year (£56 for concessions and £10 for full-time students). If you join us after the Christmas break, these fees drop to £56 and £34 for concessions.
We will also help you to hire or buy the music you will need to sing with us. Whilst we buy and hire music in bulk to reduce costs, there is an additional music cost over and above our membership fees.
